Volunteer Positions Almost Filled for 2012 U.S. Women's Open at Blackwolf Run

Less Than 200 Volunteer Positions Remain

Kohler Co. announced today that less than 200 volunteer positions remain unfilled for the 2012 U.S. Women's Open held July 2-8, 2012 at Blackwolf Run. To date, local leaders, new and returning volunteers have enthusiastically signed up to be a part of the next chapter of historic major championships held in Kohler.

Kohler resident, Tom Belot, has volunteered for five of golf's major championships, two of which were hosted by Kohler, and is returning for the 2012 U.S. Women's Open as co-chair of the Marshal Committee. He and another veteran co-chair are responsible for coordinating more than 900 marshals who manage crowd control on the course. "Being a resident of the area, it's very special for me to be involved in these tournaments because I have seen first-hand how they have positively impacted our community," said Belot. "Each one has been fantastic and it's an honor to be part of such great events. I'm looking forward to volunteering alongside familiar faces and enjoying the event."

Volunteer opportunities were announced earlier this summer and the organization originally sought more than 2,000 volunteers to assist with the second U.S. Women's Open Championship held at Blackwolf Run. In just a few months, positions have quickly filled with both enthusiastic new and returning volunteers. Organizers expect the last of the positions to be filled by before the end of the year, if not within the next sixty days.

Those who are interested in participating as a volunteer at the 2012 U.S. Women's Open are encouraged to apply quickly by completing the Online Volunteer Application at www.2012USWomensOpen.com or calling (920) 453-2889 for more information. Committee choices are listed on the championship Web site.

For a one-time registration fee of $150, volunteers will receive exclusive benefits including unadvertised opportunities through The American Club Resort. Those who volunteer for the 2012 U.S. Women's Open will also receive first access to volunteer opportunities at future championships including the 2015 PGA Championship and 2020 Ryder Cup. Each volunteer is asked to work 3-4 shifts for a total of 16 hours. After this commitment is complete, they are welcome to enjoy the championship at their leisure.

"The response we've seen in our volunteer recruitment has been overwhelming positive," said Barry Deach, 2012 U.S. Women's Open Championship Director. "The community has been so supportive and we are pleased to provide this valuable volunteer opportunity to our loyal fans."

The 2012 U.S. Women's Open Volunteer Package includes an assortment of exclusive benefits:
- One volunteer badge that allows you access to the championship all seven days
- Two official volunteer golf shirts
