Description

Thornbrook Golf Course was designed and opened in the 1980s by Bill Casper. After 11 successful years, the Caspers handed the reigns over to Ron Stageman. The Stagemans ran the course for nearly 15 years before selling it in April 2014.

Current owners, Amy and Steve Riley and their two daughters, have been renovating the course since May 2014. Reopening in June 2015, Thornbrook Golf Course sports fully revived (and reordered!) 9-holes, a brand new clubhouse, and a golfing experience encircling five spring-fed ponds carved through the east shore woodlands of Lake Winnebago. The nine par 3 holes range from 85 to 155 yards.

Five miles northeast of Fond du Lac, WI, single rounds and walking tours are just $9 all day, every day.

Al Capone's

Big Al Capone's, the former Fuhrman's Hotel built in 1846 and now a State Historical Landmark, was a stagecoach stop and legend has it that notorious gangster, Al Capone, stayed here frequently in the 1920's while visiting his brother at the local brothel/distillery a few miles away. Purchased in 2010 by John & Annie Schmitz, renovations have included a new kitchen, expanded menu and parking, and new windows looking outside to the outdoor patio and bar.

Happy hour is 3-6, party room is available free of charge, and there's live entertainment most Saturday's. Menu includes burgers, wraps, and speciality sandwiches, Italian fare, seafood, homemade soup, plenty of deep-fried apps, and the best pizza you'll ever have.
