Opportunities For Junior Golfers In Ozaukee County
The abundance of opportunities for junior golfers in Ozaukee Cty. is reflective of the competition at local courses. We have attempted to gather information about these opportunities for this week's column so that golfers and their parents are able to make informed choices regarding where to spend their golf dollars this summer.
Ozaukee County junior golfers have the opportunity to play at Hawthorne Hills each Monday starting on June 16. Players from age 7 to 17 can play 9 holes for $5 throughout the summer beginning at 8:00 am. The program requires that participants register prior to June 16 and obtain an Ozaukee Cty. Student Discount ID card beforehand. This ID is available at both Hawthorne Hills and Mee-Kwon Park for a $25 fee.
Both Mee-Kwon and Hawthorne Hills offer 17 and under rates Monday through Friday; $5/nine holes and $10/eighteen holes. But, if they play with their parents or grandparents on the weekend and holidays, after 2:00 pm, the juniors golf for FREE. Otherwise, they pay the regular, discounted green fee before 2:00.
The only pre-requisite for the Hawthorne Hills program is that the golfers have rudimentary golf skills, their own clubs and an acquaintance with golf etiquette. For further information call Hawthorne Hills at 262-692-2151.
The Bog's Eighth Annual Jr. Golf Program will run for 6 consecutive Tuesday mornings from June 24 to August 5 with a parent/junior play date on August 12.
