City Of Janesville Selects Kempersports To Manage Courses

KemperSports To Manage Riverside and Blackhawk Golf Clubs

The city of Janesville, Wis., recently selected KemperSports, a leading golf course management company, to manage the 18-hole championship Riverside Golf Club and 9-hole Blackhawk Golf Club. The pair of city-owned courses marks the second and third municipal courses managed by KemperSports in the state of Wis. as it also operates Forest Hills Golf Course in La Crosse, Wis.

"Following a national selection process, the city of Janesville is excited to enter into a management contract with KemperSports. Janesville has two of the finest municipal golf facilities in the state of Wisconsin, and with KemperSports on board to manage them, we believe the quality of the golf experience will be taken to a new level," said Assistant City Manager Jay Winzenz. "KemperSports distinguished themselves from their competitors due to their creative thinking in marketing the courses, their company-wide focus on customer satisfaction and their attention to detail in the maintenance of the courses. We look forward to a long partnership with KemperSports."

"KemperSports is excited to add Riverside and Blackhawk Golf Clubs to our municipal portfolio," said KemperSports CEO Steve Skinner. "We look forward to providing an exceptional golf experience to public golfers in Southern Wisconsin."

Known as one of the top municipal layouts in the state, Riverside Golf Club was built in 1924 by Robert Bruce Harris. The 18-hole, par-72 layout features tree-lined fairways, rolling hills and large undulating bent grass greens. The course plays from 5,069 yards to 6,508 yards - making it fun and challenging for players of all skill levels.

Riverside Golf Club is the annual host of the Ray Fischer Tournament. Sponsored by the Wisconsin Public Links Association, the tournament is one of the most prestigious amateur events in the Midwest and has been won by PGA TOUR stars Steve Stricker and Skip Kendall in its 44-year history.

Riverside's 9-hole counterpart is Blackhawk Golf Club with its winding layout along the Spring Brook Creek. The course features mature oaks to go alongside stellar playing conditions. The course prides itself on providing a fun, relaxing golf experience for golfers of all skill levels.
