Wisconsin PGA Selects GolfTEC's Brendan Locke As 2011 Teacher Of The Year

Brendan Locke, the Director of Instruction and owner of the four GolfTEC Improvement Centers in Wisconsin, is the 2011 Teacher Of The Year in the Wisconsin Section of the Professional Golfers Association of America.

Locke, 31, born and raised in Madison, Wis., is the driving force behind the GolfTEC centers in Wauwatosa, Brookfield, Middleton and Mequon, which together have given a combined total of 75,000 golf lessons since 2006. Through his involvement with the Wisconsin PGA Junior Foundation, Locke currently serves as chairman of Milwaukee County Chapter of The First Tee.

Locke joins the growing list of GolfTEC certified coaches who have been honored by their peers in the industry. He is one of four winners of the 2011 PGA Section Teacher of the Year Award, joining Patrick Nuber in the Colorado PGA Section, Nick Paez of the Northern Ohio PGA Section and James Kinney of the Nebraska PGA Section, who has won for the fourth time. Together they bring GolfTEC's all-time total of PGA and LPGA Section Teacher of the Year awards to 15.

"I appreciate being associated with this award because of so many great teachers who have been honored with it," said Locke, a PGA Class A Member who has been a teaching professional since 2003. "But the award is not so much about me, but more the result of the work that the 14 members of my GolfTEC staff put in together. It's all about growing the game, and this award from the Wisconsin PGA gives even more credibility to what we do at GolfTEC."

Since 1995, GolfTEC, the world leader in golf improvement, has given more than 3,200,000 lessons at 150 improvement centers in North America, helping golfers shoot lower scores and have more fun on the golf course.

All GolfTEC lessons are taught one-on-one in private, indoor bays that maximize the learning experience. GolfTEC utilizes proprietary teaching technology and the skills of its Certified Personal Coaches to help golfers improve their skills and increase enjoyment of the game.

"I love the relationships we are able to establish with our students," Locke said. "We get to meet more than 200 people a year, and a lot of them become friends."

Locke, who lives in Hartford with his wife and their 2-year-old son, will be among those honored at the WPGA special awards reception March 13, in conjunction with the WPGA spring membership meeting at the Brookfield Suites Hotel in Brookfield, Wis.

The Wisconsin Section is one of the 41 sections that comprise the regional entities of the PGA of America. More than 500 members and apprentices belong to the Wisconsin Section stretching from areas in the Upper-Peninsula of Michigan to almost the entire state of Wisconsin.
