Wild Rock Golf Club's Pro Wins Resort Merchandiser Of The Year By Wpga

Pat Stein, golf pro at Wild Rock Golf Club at Wilderness Hotel & Golf Resort was recently named the 2009 Resort Merchandiser of the Year by the Wisconsin PGA.

The award recognizes Stein for showing innovation and expertise in merchandising while maintaining good margins and inventory levels.

Stein, who has been working at Wilderness Resort for nine seasons, holds a bachelor's degree in marketing and golf management from Ferris State University, Big Rapids, Mich. He says his merchandising philosophy is that the product line should always be changing and evolving.

"Receiving this award is a really nice honor," adds Stein. "I'm looking forward to having the public see our new product line for 2009 at the Club House. We have purchased a lot of the really popular moisture wicking fabrics which are very low maintenance and great on hot days.

"I'm expecting the new Under Armour shirts that dry ready to wear and require no ironing to be an exceptional seller."

Wild Rock is set to open for the season on April 15. The course, which is designed by the world-renowned golf course architect team of Hurdzan & Fry, features three distinctly different landscapes that make for a truly memorable round of golf. This past winter it received two noteworthy awards including being ranked #5 on Golf Magazine's list of "Top 10 New Courses You Can Play" as well as the fourth best "New Public Golf Course of 2008" by Links Magazine.

The first holes wind through cropland and woodlands which are split by a large natural ravine featuring a cascading stream filled with waterfalls and pools. Golfers then head into a dramatic wooded ridgeline where the land falls to the east leaving awe inspiring views of up to 30 miles. Several of the final holes are located around an area that used to be an old stone quarry. Rugged topography, including sand and gravel mounds, line the fairways in this area making the holes both scenic and challenging.

Wild Rock also features unique rugged weathered bunkers that guard both greens and fairways making every round an adventure. Five different tee boxes provide golfers of all skill levels with a comfortable challenge.

Wild Rock is part of the Wilderness Territory in Wisconsin Dells, which is home to the Wilderness Hotel & Golf Resort- America's Largest Waterpark Resort, Glacier Canyon Lodge and Conference Center, and Wilderness on the Lake.
