Looking to plan the perfect golf trip to Green Lake Wisconsin / Acorn Ridge Motel? Planning a buddies trip or a romantic golf getaway can be a full time job not to mention pressure filled to deliver a memorable experience. Below is an interview with Eric Johnson, Owner who shares some insider information about golfing and traveling to Green Lake Wisconsin / Acorn Ridge Motel, must play courses, a sample itinerary and where you can go for more planning tools.

Give our readers an overview of your destination and why they should consider it for their next golf trip?
Acorn Ridge Motel is centrally located in the Green Lake area, just 3 miles west of "The Golf Courses of Lawsonia". We are an authorized package host for Lawsonia, Mascoutin, Tuscumbia and White Lake Golf. We have packages from 1-4 nights that can fit any group's budget and level of play. Our motel is a family operation situated on 3 country acres. Which means you will get a quiet, comfortable stay and be able to relax without the hassles and crowding of a facility located in a city. Rooms are all on ground level, no stairs to climb. We have an excellent bar and restaurant here too, "Bernie's Steakhouse", so there is no need to drive anywhere after a long day of fun. Acorn Ridge Motel has 14 rooms and specializes in packages for 2-28 players.

What are the must play courses in Green Lake Wisconsin / Acorn Ridge Motel?
"The Golf Courses of Lawsonia" - 36 holes The Links Course The Links Course features gently rolling terrain; bent grass fairways; multi-tiered, unusually elevated, moderately fast greens that are surrounded by about 90 strategically placed steep bunkers; deep rough; large snaking sand traps.

The Woodlands Course
The Woodlands Course is a stunning contrast to its predecessor, the Links Course. Its fairways are densely tree-lined and guarded by a series of about 80 traps, making it much tighter. Considered a modern target course, it is comprised of radical elevation, and large bent grass greens that are moderately fast and well bunkered.

"MASCOUTIN GOLF CLUB" - 27 holes
Some 300 years ago, fire-worshipping Indians lived in Mascoutin Village just south of Berlin, Wis., in Green Lake County. It was in this gently rolling setting that E. Lawrence Packard carved out a magnificent 18-hole championship golf course through century old trees. The original Red and White nines were designed by Larry Packard and the course opened for play in 1976. The very popular Blue nine, quite different in its challenges, was designed by Rick Jacobson, and opened for play on July 19, 1999. With a beautiful setting and overall superb conditions, all 27 holes appeal to men, women and junior golfers and offer equal challenges to the professional or novice.

"TUSCUMBIA COUNTRY CLUB" - 18 holes
Be A Part Of The History
Tuscumbia's golf course is Wisconsin's oldest and friendliest place to enjoy a challenging and spirited round of golf. Founded in 1896, Tuscumbia is nestled in the charming and historic resort community of Green Lake. Tuscumbia's grounds are maintained in top-notch condition throughout the golfing season from the majestic evergreens and maples to the magnificent towering oaks. Golf at Tuscumbia promises to be one of the most memorable rounds you'll ever play whether you're a novice or seasoned professional.

What is the hidden gem and/or best value course?
I could go on and on about the beauty and diversity of the Links and Woodlands courses at Lawsonia, Mascoutin having some of the best greens in the Midwest, or Tuscumbia being the oldest course in Wisconsin. But the real gem is the golf package that we as a group have put together for you. Working with the Green Lake Chamber of Commerce, the golf courses, restaurants and lodging facilities have teamed up to offer you an extremely easy way to enjoy unlimited play each day at any course you choose to play for any number of days you desire. Weekday packages along with seasonal rates offer the greatest value. But even our weekend package pricing cannot be beat by most other golf destinations. You owe it to yourself to check out what the Acorn Ridge Motel can offer your group.

Can you provide our readers with an ideal itinerary for a long weekend?
Whether a weekend or weekday getaway, most people prefer a traditional 2-night / 3-day package. Arrive the 1st day here in Green Lake and head over to Mascoutin for 27 holes. Return to the Acorn Ridge Motel and prepare for dining at any number of restaurant choices, including "Bernie's Steakhouse" located right here with the motel. 2nd day, head over to Lawsonia and play both the Links and Woodlands courses. Relax after golf at any number of fine places Green Lake has to offer, or just hang out on the deck with your friend's back at the motel. On the 3rd day head over to Tuscumbia for 18 holes on the oldest course in Wisconsin, before heading for home.

The golf packages are completely flexible and we can add any number of days and course selections that you desire. Call us to find out what fits your group's plans the best.

After golf, what are the "must do" things or attractions to see?
The Green Lake area is the oldest resort area west of Niagara Falls. Dining and relaxing are the best ways to spend your evening. But if you like, there is a nightlife to be found at the local establishments and there is often a festival going on in the area on any summer weekend.

What is the best time to travel?
While summers are always busy, they are never too busy to enjoy the area. You will not feel crowded in Green Lake, even on the busiest summer weekends. Weekdays are the best way to take advantage of everything Green Lake has to offer. Prices are discounted deeply on Sunday through Thursday golfing and most restaurants offer special pricing during the week. Many of my guests find that what they save with weekday pricing more than makes up for taking a few vacation days from work to enjoy golf in Green Lake.

Anything else you would like to share about the Green Lake Wisconsin / Acorn Ridge Motel?
