Fairfield Hills Selected Wisconsin 9-Hole Course of the Year

Fairfield Hills Golf Course & Range was a big winner at the 2018 Golf Course Owners of Wisconsin (GCOW) annual awards banquet. In addition to being selected Wisconsin’s 9-hole Course of the Year, Fairfield Hills won the 9-hole Marketing and Membership award, and Fairfield Hills’manager, Nick Winters, won the GCOW Award for “Teacher of the Year” at a 9-hole golf facility. The awards ceremony was held at the Evergreen Country Club in Elkhorn, WI on November 13th. Course owner, Jim Tracy and Manager Nick Winters, were on hand to receive their awards. At the awards ceremony, Tracy thanked the association for their recognition and cited the courses hard working team for their attention to detail as the reason for Fairfield Hills continued success.

Fairfield Hills was selected GCOW’s 9-hole “Course of the Year” based on the exceptional quality of the facilities, strong management team and contributions to growing the game of golf. This past summer, Fairfield Hills opened three new holes and became the area’s first and only course to offer golfers the option to play 3, 9, 12 or 18 holes. According to manager Nick Winters, “The new course design has been a big success with the majority of golfers selecting the new 12-hole option.”

This was the second year in a row Nick Winters won the GCOW “Teacher of the Year” award. Owner Jim Tracy sited Nick’s passion for growing the game of golf as the inspiration for Nick creating an online video series called the “Sunday Swing.” The video series includes over 40 short videos designed to help golfers improve their golf game and keep golfers up to date on current events at Fairfield Hills. The Sunday Swing videos can be viewed on the course website www.fairfieldhillsgolfcourse.com under the Leagues and Clinics tab. The videos have helped make Fairfield Hills a popular destination for individual and group golf lessons.

Fairfield Hills Golf Course & Range is a family-friendly public course located on Fox Hill Road in Baraboo. The course is challenging enough for more experienced golfers, but not too difficult for beginners. The new course design has given local residents and area tourists more options to fit golf into their busy schedules.

This was the fifth year in a row Fairfield Hills Golf Course & Range has been selected as one of the top 9-hole golf courses in Wisconsin. Continued state recognition is a testament that Fairfield Hills is indeed making positive changes. Tracy cites the team’s outstanding job maintaining the facility, and continued aggressive marketing as reasons for growth. “We are also very fortunate to have a talented Grounds Supervisor and a Club House Manager who is passionate about running the facility. The number of golfers participating in our leagues continues to grow as does the number of area companies who take advantage of corporate discounts for their employees.”

The Fairfield Hills Golf Course & Range closed on November 1st, but they invite anyone who has not visited the course recently to come check out the facility next spring and see why they were selected the 2018 Wisconsin 9-hole Course of the Year.
